Stamford comprises approximately 45 distinct neighborhoods and villages, and two historic districts, [24]  including Cove, East Side, Downtown, North Stamford, Glenbrook, West Side, Turn of River, Waterside, Springdale, Belltown, Ridgeway, Newfield, South End, Westover,  Shippan , Roxbury, and Palmers Hill.

In 2020, the racial makeup of the city was 49.3% non-Hispanic white, 14.1% Black or African American, 0.3% American Indian or Alaska Native, 8.6% Asian American, 3.2% from two or more races, and 27.2% Hispanic or Latino (of any race). [30]  2020 American Community Survey estimates show that of the

Hispanic or Latin American population, Guatemalans form the largest group (6.75% of the city population), followed by Puerto Ricans (3.77%), Colombians (2.87%), Ecuadorians (2.42%), and Mexicans (2.38%). Our Mission

Preventing and reducing youth substance misuse through positive youth and community development.

 

Our Members

Presently, Stamford Prevention Council has over 65 members representing 20+ number of agencies.


 

Our Approach

  • We are a data driven and action-oriented councilWe use the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to guide our work.We attend bimonthly meetings to help coordinate of our work.

  • We form time limited work groups to conduct our work. Examples:

    • Youth survey work group. Coordinates implementation of biannual youth survey. Plans dissemination of results

    • Legislative Forum work group. Plans and hosts legislative forum to support local efforts addressing youth substance use.

Our Meetings

The coalition typically meets in a hybrid format bimonthly the 4th Friday of the month.

2023-2024 Meetings :

  • March 28th - Hybrid
